Learning Tools Interoperability

What is Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI)?

The principal concept of LTI is to establish a standard way of integrating rich learning applications (often remotely hosted and provided through third-party services) with platforms like learning management systems, portals, or other educational environments. More detailed information can be found at the following web page:

How Does LTI Function Within CompassLearning Odyssey?

LTI allows CompassLearning Odyssey content and tools (currently not available for Renzulli) to be accessed from within a third party Learning Management System (LMS) -- such as Desire2Learn, Agilix (Brain Honey/Buzz), Moodle, and others -- without having to log in to Odyssey directly. The third party LMS must support LTI version 1.1. LTI can be enabled for an entire district or for individual schools.

An LTI integration can be configured for Single Sign On only but it is also possible to integrate links to activities, assignments, and tools.

Integrating Odyssey With a Third Party LMS via LTI

We have performed successful LTI integrations with the following LMS’s:

  • Agilix/Brainhoney
  • Engrade
  • Desire2Learn
  • Moodle

The list of supported LMS’s will continue to grow as we build support for additional integrations. We would be happy to explore a possible integration with your existing LMS. In order to initiate this process, we require the following information:

  • School or District Name
  • The Name of your Learning Management System
  • Description of how you wish to use this integration (“Single Sign On, Links to activities, assignments etc.”)
  • Key contact personnel who would be involved with the LTI integration and implementation

You may submit this information to your CompassLearning Sales Representative or via the following email address:

Once we have this information, we will reach out to your designated contact and explore a possible LTI integration.
