Compass Learning Release Notes v. 2014.0 and 2014.0.2

This document provides an overview of new features and enhancements included in the latest version of Compass Learning solutions,  as well as a summary of the major updates that were included in our recent 2014.0 release. Updates for 2014.0.2

Compass Learning’s Hybridge is Now Available for Additional Grades

Compass Learning’s Hybridge™ blended learning solution is now available for grades 6-8. Hybridge provides
textbook-aligned digital content or the option to align lessons with your own scope, sequence, and pacing.

Content Alignments in Compass Learning Odyssey

The following content alignment changes have been made in Compass Learning Odyssey:

  • Updated Math Common Core standard codes for North Carolina in grades K-8 and high school subjects
  • Updated Math standards for Arizona in grades K-8 and high school subjects
  • Updated learning paths to reflect Fall 2014 changes in the NWEA MAP Assessments for Common Core, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, North Dakota, New York, Ohio, and Texas

Maintenance and Bug Fixes

This Compass Learning Odyssey release features routine maintenance and bug fixes.

Updates for 2014.0

Important Notice About Compass Learning Solutions

We’ve made enhancements to the Compass Learning software interface to make your experience better, faster and more modern. A side effect of these upgrades and improvements is that older browsers, such as Internet Explorer 8 and 9, are not able to support and deliver the desired experience.

Compass Learning software can be accessed using the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 10 or 11
  • ​Google Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari 6 or 7
  • Puffin Academy

Please see our system requirements for further details.

The benefits of using the latest browser technology include improved privacy and security protection, noticeable performance improvements, and support for newer technology and web browser standards, such as HTML5.  

We recommend that you immediately begin using the latest versions of Chrome or Firefox to access Compass Learning software. Alternatively, after consulting with your Technology Director or IT Team, you may choose an upgrade to Internet Explorer 11. We will also work with your Technology Director or IT Team to answer any questions you may have.

Improvements to Odyssey

This release includes improved functionality and design in Compass Learning Odyssey, including the following items:

For Teachers:

  • Updated modern look and feel.
  • Addition of activity descriptions—in the Curriculum Index and the Assignment Builder—to ease selection of appropriate content for students.
  • The option to apply new product solutions (depending upon your school’s licensing) will appear in both the
  • Attributes” section in students’ profiles and the Assignment Builder.
  • Updated user help content.

 

For Students:

  • Updated responsive look and feel.
  • Grade range-specific interfaces (Pre-K-5, 6-8, and HS).
  • Addition of an information “slideout” for assignments, chapters, lessons and activities to provide greater visibility.
  • Updated Student Portfolio design.
  • Updated Writer tool design.
  • Updated Basic Calculator design.
  • Updated Interactive Timeline design.
  • Updated user help content.

Content Alignments

The following content alignment change has been made in this release:

  • Updates to reflect new Florida standards codes for Math, grades K-8, and high school subjects.

New Compass Learning Solutions

In addition to an improved version of Odyssey, Compass Learning is introducing three new product solutions to the market
with this release:

  • Hybridge™ provides a blended learning solution that enables users to easily set up differentiated learning solutions for each student. Hybridge provides textbook-aligned digital content.
  • Pathblazer™ gives teachers the tools they need to speed struggling elementary and middle school learners up to grade-level proficiency. The software includes an initial Student Screener tool that helps teachers to identify each student’s proficiency level and then prescribe an individualized learning path and acceleration plan.
  • Compass Learning® High School learning acceleration software™ helps teachers make powerful connections with today’s ‘plugged-in’ high schoolers. With anytime, anywhere online access to rigorous, Common Core and state standards-aligned content, students can work around their busy schedules.
