Super Starter Projects

Providing inquiry even when the teacher isn't quite ready

The Project feature in GoQuest guides the student through the process of completing a project through the use of and Interactive Timeline. This timeline provides a responsive interface for students to visually track progress, interact with Activities, and submit responses to meet Milestones.

Using one of our Super Starter projects enables educators to begin providing inquiry based experiences immediately.

Creating a "Super Starter" Project

Super Starter Projects are designed to give students scaffolded help in completing projects, to help them grow toward directing their own learning and creating advanced levels of work. Completing a Super Starter Project will help students gain experience and confidence that may allow them to undertake other work that is more fully self-directed. It can be a great tool for students who have never experienced the challenge of designing, managing, and completing an independent project with authentic, original products to learn how to approach the extensive planning, decision-making, and organization required.

Use the video below to walk through the process.

Click Project from the top menu. Then click the Create Project button.

Scroll through the list of available projects. You will see the project titles, which should cue you into the skill(s) addressed, as well as the grade range for the project.

Each project has 5 sections:

  • Introduction
  • Phase One: Explore a Topic
  • Phase Two: Identify a Problem
  • Phase Three: Create a Product
  • Phase Four: Share Your Work

Within each section, you will see Student Interaction Opportunities.

In the top left corner, you will see what type of interaction it is.

Within the box, you will find descriptions, directions, resources, the ability for students to input notes and answer questions, and more.

Note at the bottom of the example there are buttons to add interactions:

  • Add Student Response: adds a text box for students to type in text and save
  • Add Activities: allows the teacher to add activities to the project
  • Add Resource: allows the teacher to add external resources (documents) to the project)

In some boxes, you will see: GoQuest Project Interactions Student Select.jpg

When you check this box, the student establishes the parameters for that box.

Tip: Read through all of the boxes and understand all of the expectations for students.

Tip: Update the dates in the top left corner so that your Upcoming Events on your Teacher Dashboard are accurate.

Once you have everything just right, scroll back to the top and click Save Project.
